Choral Scholarships at St Mary's Priory Church
Introduction
St Mary’s Priory Church offers up to a maximum of six choral scholarships for each academic year for young people aged between 16 and 20 who are studying at Sixth Form level.
Overview of the scheme
Each scholarship will be worth approximately £500 p.a., comprising of:
• vocal tuition (one lesson per week);
• reduced costs for Singing Week and other choir events;
• remuneration for music and expenses of £300 (£25 p.c.m.).
Each scholarship will normally last for a maximum period of two years; at the end of the first year it will be reviewed and may then be extended. Each choral scholar will be selected for their potential as a singer, and each will normally offer a different vocal line.
Applications
Those interested in applying for the scholarship will be asked to fill in anapplication form by the end of June; there will be an audition for those short-listed during July. All applicants will be advised of the outcome before the end of July.
Full details of the scholarships are available from The Director of Music.
